Introduction of Plant Raw Materials
The raw materials of Kudzu Extract product are the the leguminous plant wild kudzu Pueraria lobata (Willd.) Ohwi or Thomson’s kudzu P. thomsonii Benth dried roots. Mainly produced in Shandong, Henan, Hebei, Liaoning, and other regions in China. The 2020 edition of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia records the standards for kudzu root. Kudzu root is sweet and pungent in taste, cool in nature, enters the spleen and stomach meridians, and has the effects of relieving muscle tension and reducing fever, generating fluids and quenching thirst, promoting rash, lifting yang and stopping diarrhea, and activating meridians.
Core Efficacy
Pueraria lobata (kudzu) extract has a substantial research basis in cardiovascular health and menopausal relief. Its core component, puerarin (an isoflavone compound), has been shown in studies to dilate coronary arteries and support myocardial blood flow, with mechanisms related to the regulation of calcium and potassium ion channels. In terms of menopause, pueraria isoflavones have been studied for relieving discomfort such as hot flashes (Menopause, 2014). Puerarin can also influence glucose metabolism by activating the AMPK pathway, providing a research basis for blood sugar health.
The above results are mainly based on in vitro, animal, and clinical studies, and practical application requires comprehensive evaluation based on formulation and dosage.
