Product Description

Traditional Meridian – Warming and Skin Care Plant Ingredient – Standardized Extract with Antibacterial and Anti-inflammatory Volatile Oils

Product Description

In the category of meridian-warming care and skin-soothing products, formulators require plant ingredients that are clear in composition and stable across batches. Mugwort Extract (Ai Ye Extract) features volatile oils and flavonoid components as its active ingredients. It is derived from the dried leaves of Artemisia argyi, a plant in the Asteraceae family. The leaves are refined into a standardized concentrated powder (10:1 / 20:1) through steam distillation and solvent extraction, with thujone content strictly controlled. As a traditional plant ingredient for meridian-warming and skin care, its volatile oils have a research-backed basis for broad-spectrum antibacterial and anti-inflammatory activity, making it suitable for meridian-warming care, personal care, and functional food formulations.

Mugwort is one of the most widely used meridian-warming and hemostatic herbs in China. Henan and Hubei are the main production areas, with an annual output exceeding 50,000 tons.

Core Efficacy

The following overview of effects is based on published scientific research and traditional applications; specific effects need to be evaluated in combination with product dosage form and usage amount.

Mugwort extract has been widely used in both traditional medicine and modern health care. Its essential oils (containing eucalyptol, camphor, and thujone) have shown antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory activities in in vitro studies; traditionally, it has been used to warm the meridians and disperse cold.

Modern in vitro studies indicate its extracts can inhibit Staphylococcus aureus and influenza virus.

In the field of skin care, mugwort extract can be used to relieve skin itching and inflammation.

The above results are mainly based on in vitro and traditional application studies, and actual use should be comprehensively evaluated based on dosage form and dosage.
